Farmer Stan’s Agricultural School Tours are an amazing farm education in Baltimore County for Maryland’s students from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Fall tours are currently underway from October- the first week in November.
This year, the Maryland Agricultural Resource Council is proud to announce that we have won funding from the Baltimore Ravens Play 60 Program which has offered a discounted price for Title 1 Schools in Maryland for the Fall 2018 Tour Season.
Note: Schools will still be in charge of acquiring and paying for their transportation
The Fall season tours will give students the opportunity to get outside, learn about the food system, learn about health, and see a true working farm. Students will be emersed in an outdoor classroom, cut out of a cornfield, and learn about the many plants and produce that are harvested in the Fall. Students will then participate in a corn maze tour, a pumpkin relay race, and visit different farm animals such as turkeys, ducks, sheep, goats, and more!
The Spring season tours, which will run from April 22nd to May 3rd Monday-Friday. We are currently working on grant availability for Spring 2019 so keep an eye out for updates! In the Spring tours student will get plenty of time outside learning about the importance of playing for 60 minutes every day! They will also learn about and experience the planting and growing seasons on the farm which will introduce them to the food system and making healthy choices! The tours will allow students to learn all about how seeds are planted and grown, the many vegetables, fruits and grains that are produced from the seeds, where our food comes from, honeybees and more!
